
Chairperson: Corlette Dennard
Mission: The mission of the Training and Outreach Subcommittee is to coordinate and promote comprehensive and consistent emergency response and preparedness through outreach and educational programs.
Objectives:
- Develop and maintain ongoing relations with the many stakeholders involved in emergency response including the decision makers: law enforcement, fire, emergency medical, hospitals, and both public and private education systems.
- Coordinate with other Atlanta/Fulton County Departments to maximize resources, reduce duplication of services, and promotion collaboration, on emergency response efforts (i.e.; EMS , General Services, Communication, Health and Wellness, Public Works, etc.)
- Coordinate with other municipalities within the County to sponsor joint seminars, events, etc.
Hazardous Materials Subcommittee
Chairman: Gregory Shinkle
Mission: The mission of the Hazard Material Committee is to network with all Hazardous materials teams within Fulton County. In networking with those teams a list of priorities can be established to determine the physical equipment, training and needs those teams may have. After determining those areas of needs, LEPC may provide equipment or funding for training through the charted 501C3.
Objective:
- Identify all the fire departments and other agencies that have or would need a hazmat team, within the Fulton County area, and introduce them and their capabilities to the LEPC.
- Network with the identified agencies by establishing a contact person for each agency’s hazmat unit.
- Establish the Hazmat Subcommittee with at least one representative from organization. Once the body of the subcommittee has been identified, a subcommittee vice-chair and secretary will be established.
Membership Subcommittee
Members
- The Fulton County LEPC shall consist of as many members as deemed necessary by the Fulton County Board of Commissioners, the Georgia Emergency Response Commission and in accordance with Title III.
- All appointment to the committee will be made by the Fulton County Board of Commissioners.
- The members of the committee must have the ability, commitment, authority and resources to get the job done.
- The committee must possess or has ready access to wide range of expertise relating to the community, our industrial facilities and transportation, and the mechanics of emergency response and response planning.
- The community must be representative of all elements of our community with a substantial interest in reducing the risks posed by hazardous materials.
Inactive Members
Appointed members shall be considered inactive when they have missed more than two consecutive committee meetings without notification to the committee chairman or staff office of significant reason why they were unable to attend the meetings.
Removal of Members
- All members of the Fulton County LEPC shall serve at the pleasure of the Fulton County Board of Commissioners.
Vacancies
- Vacancies in membership of the committee will be filled by the original appointing authority for the remainder of the unexpired term.
Building Safety and Evacuation Subcommittee
Chairperson: Tami Calugi
Mission: The mission of the Building and Safety and Evacuation Subcommittee is to assist local government agencies and commercial businesses by providing guidelines and resources in the development and implementations of evacuation plans for their facilities.
Objectives:
- Establish an open line of communication with our customers.
- Develop outreach materials.
- Identify evacuation and safety related resources.
- Develop and identify the methodology of providing this information/resources to our customers.
